In the 80s I read the definitive guide to the unspolit British boozer.. 'The Quest for the Perfect Pub' by Nick and Chalie Hurt and it inspited me to seek out that holy grail. The journey continues, even though many of the pubs enjoyed in that book have now either closed or become gastro-ised or sold to chains...
