The intro i think explains this project fairly concisely (which is rare for me). It is a space for you to connect with a simple pondering, join the conversation by sharing your experiences or understanding so far and be open to growing it further, maybe in entirely new directions - It is, i feel, what Campfire is all about  - The exploration of ideas, application of new directions and finding the people to create the change we dare to envisage.

It is ok not to have the answers or even the opinions when you post. It is ok to learn publicly and together. It is more than ok to enrich the conversation by joining in... See you by the online fire.

If you are a ponderer and want to join the project please do get in touch - all are welcome x

Campfire Curiosity #3 Have you heard of Masdar City?

So watching Human Earth - Cities,  today with the children, I was introduced to some genuinely inspiring human resourcefulness not easily witnessed in our western, busy environments. What really excited me though, was the development of Masdar City and I invite you to start campfire chatting about this whether you are into sustainable living or not.

Masdar, arabic for 'the source', was promised to be the world's first sustainable city, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE and watching the You Tube video attached to this article it does sound like it could be the driving force behind the explosion of new industry across the globe.

It plans to be home to the world's first university dedicated to studying sustainability and renewable technologies.

AND be the flagship for One Planet Living, a framework which may form the basis of future environmentally friendly communities. As with all big builds (and this is a biggie) it hasn't quite gone according to plan, the completion has been pushed back and it is over budget. However, the vision, technology and of course the mistakes made along the way are creating ripples in a pond that needs a new lease of life.

My ponderings now take me to the fact that Abu Dhabi is very clever in hosting this flagship, with it, eventually, it will have a new power and influence within the global markets, by creating this in the seemingly desolate desert it is also revealing even more global potential.

So I invite you reading here within Campfire to share your thoughts -  Have you been involved in anyway? What are your thoughts on how it progresses? Is there a vision we can create here within Campfire for the Uk or communities we work with,  which draws on the lessons Masdar City creators are learning and developing?

Maybe you are more cynical about this project or have an insight into the industries involved in its creation?

Lets start talking ..... x
