With spring under way, our thoughts turn to outdoor activities and the campfire experience. We're heading out around the UK between late April and mid July in the build up to this year's Campfire Convention 00.UK event.

If you are up for hosting / organising a Campfire Conversation for this summer, have a read of the articles in this Project.

The gathering works best as a small, intimate afternoon or evening, preferably with an outdoor element (as we can then have a fire too), which can be a pub or arts centre, a back garden or a field. Ideal size I can range from 10-100 people and would involve discussion, debate, thinkshop, exhibition, ideas exchange and a knees-up element (live acoustic music or DJs) and a food / drink element, often communal cooking.

Campfire Conversations Chesham.

Last night we had our first Campfire Conversations in Chesham with Pete Lawrence and Jonathan Leighton.  It was great to see some of our local movers and shakers make an appearance especially Martin and Jenny Freeman who have put on some amazing events in Chesham over the past few years and are co-organisers of Buryfields and other music events we have locally.  Our mayor Emily Culverhouse also popped in for a quick chat after a long weekend of public appearances.  Despite our political views we managed to all sit together and have a respectful civilised conversation which for me personally is what Campfire Conversations should be about.  We held the event at our local football club which has a nice field at the back and who allowed us to have a campfire in my customised shopping trolley firebasket made by Tat Modern.  It was fantastic to see pop star politician Mia Manners turn up who came after work from London, and David Goodman from Miller Goodman.

Here are some video snippets we captured at our first event in Chesham.
